Newcrest is currently on site at Castle Hill building 10,000 square feet of ground floor retail together with 46 shared ownership apartments and ten townhouses all due for completion ahead of Christmas 2019.

Following successful funding and a pre-sale of the apartments to Clarion, Co-op have agreed to take the first of the five retail units in the village centre in Eastern Quarry with the remainder set to be marketed in the coming months.

Craig Smith, Regional Acquisitions Manager for Co-op, said: “We’re looking forward to opening a new store in Castle Hill. We’re delighted to have the opportunity to provide shoppers with our wide range of award-winning food.”

Ian Piper, Chief Executive at Ebbsfleet Development Corporation said: “With the village centre starting to take shape for Castle Hill residents and in Eastern Quarry where two more villages are planned, an education campus and a whole range of retail  facilities and open spaces, you can see  why the people in our  communities love living in Ebbsfleet Garden City.”

Ebbsfleet Garden City now has more than 1,300 completed homes, a new primary school, pub and hotel.

Plans for a second pub and hotel are due to be submitted early this year and plans are being drawn up for a £55million primary and secondary school campus in Eastern Quarry.

‘Six groups of schoolchildren near to Oakridge Park, taking part in in a hoarding painting competition, have added a touch of colour to the hoardings surrounding Newcrest’s development in Milton Keynes. Three groups of children from Stanton School joined the project team on Tuesday to start the artworks, with three groups from Pepper Hill School decorating the remaining hoarding space on Thursday. Local artist Neil Keane of Arkade Graphics assisted with the design, the children’s artwork and finishing touches of the artwork.

The scheme is progressing well, working towards a summer 2016 completion. The works consist of a new Asda food store, a small parade of 5 retail units, external adjacent roadways, 3 bus stops and car parking areas adjacent to a recently constructed residential area.’
